About Our Business
Our business started in our kitchen as I decided to whip up our own
desserts . You see, my 3 girls and my partner love to have cakes and
sweets available all the time. At the end of a hard day's work, we feel we are
entitled to indulge (sinful on our waistlines but definitely worth it !) On
many occasions, I would also bake for friends on special celebrations or
simple gatherings. To my delight, they would actually come back ordering for
more!
Opening up a bakeshop has always been a dream. Our busy schedules just
didn't permit it (or so we thought). Since my partner and I are both
working in Manhattan, we haven't seriously considered opening up shop until
now when we've finally found the right location to do this in the busy
section of Highland Park. So, here we are - it's now or never! Luckily,
we've been very fortunate to receive all the support we need from a good
landlord and from the Highland Park officials. Thanks to them and to the
persistence of my partner, Michael, things are shaping up pretty well .
Soon, we can open shop and sell the products that we love so you can
enjoy them too !
As a mom and a very picky consumer (at least on cakes and desserts), I
promise to provide ONLY fresh, home-made QUALITY desserts that you will
surely enjoy. After all, I have the best 3 critics in my own home in ages 3, 6 and 7 :)
For more sophisticated taste buds, I rely on my partner to give an honest to
goodness criticism. I am proud to say that I get very good reviews especially on the
chocolate products. For someone who has frequented high-end patisserie shops in
Manhattan, I have to say that I am very pleased.
Lastly, for those of you who wonder what "MC" in "MC Bakeshop" stands for, believe
me when I say that we came up with a long list of fancy names . But at the
end, we thought that since this is a purely family owned business, why not
name it after the initials of everyone in our household? We have Mikaela,
Michael, Cristina, Carla and Carol. It was a no brainer - MC Bakeshop it
is. Personally, I love it and am still secretly smiling. After all, my
real name is Maria Cristina :).
